Minecraft notes

Why does Minecraft entertain children?
- Because it allows you to be in control and build a whole world of your own which can seem appealing to many children.
- The different packs and the wide variety of blocks/resources/animals may also appeal to children as it shows they are free to build/craft anything they like.
-  You can link up with friends and other players using Wi-Fi.
- There are 2 modes; survival - which allows you to mine blocks yourself with the correct tools whilst avoiding death from the monsters. And creative - which lets you freely roam and build as you please.

What does Minecraft teach?
- It teaches real life skills as the player has finite amount of resources and needs to decipher how to use them wisely.
- It builds up perseverance as it can take time to build things and they may not work first time, also mining blocks takes patience too.
- It's child friendly. The game includes no violence meaning children will not inherit violent ways from the game.
- Minecraft is an excellent way to learn the importance of teamwork

Advantages of Microsoft owning Minecraft
- Microsoft brought the game onto the app store making it accessible to phones, tablets, computers etc.
- Microsoft can be seen by many as 'boring' and only for the adult things such as, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc. But this added addition brings a light onto the company by owning one of the most popular games in the world.
- It could bring a new audience for Microsoft and could increase it's popularity with it's other assets/apps.

Disadvantages Of Microsoft Owning Minecraft

- The game will eventually decrease in popularity and Microsoft don't know when that will be. This could mean that Microsoft wont make a profit and lose large amounts of money.
- Microsoft could encounter problems on the game which they may need to spend money on qualified employees that can fix them.
