Analysing music videos

Dennis Lloyd - Nevermind
I have chosen this song to analyse as I think it suitably fits the task set. I first encountered this song on the radio as it was successful in 2017 and in the UK's top 40 for 15 weeks - also, I found this on the 'trending' page of YouTube, Spotify and also some social media apps, like Facebook, advertised the release. The popularity of this song influenced my opinion as it was religiously played many times on certain radio stations which created the idea that this song was a acceptable for a younger audience.
Pop songs typically include women who have been photo shopped to look flawless, the music video to this song entails many women wearing minimal clothing to maybe draw in the eye of the listener. However, the music video also diverts from the typical pop conventions as it does not include bright colours but includes very minimal colour. It also diverts by not really following a narrative or performance - although it is a narrative video, it is quite hard to distinguish what it is about.
I would consider this video to be aimed at people in their older teenage years, or even through to their 20's; this is because of the lack of colour and narrative throughout and the slow paced beat which the video follows.
Throughout the video, their is a repetition of the same scene of girls sitting on a sofa in a dark room which cuts to a girl walking through a dark hallway, then on the beach. The narrative does not have a clear meaning which is not typical of a pop music video. This creates the idea that this song may not be a pop song and could have other genres intertwined, such as dance or house.

Mabel - Don't Call Me Up
I have chosen this song as I think it is a good representation of a typical pop song. This is because it includes all the conventions of a pop music video - such as, many photo shopped women, bright colours and a narrative about relationships. The bright colours used in this music video makes it appeal to a youth audience as it appears vibrant and lively.
Elements of voyeurism is used throughout as the women are wearing seductive clothing at times, this links to the pop genre as it is popular throughout the industry with young audiences as it appeals more to them than an older audience.
The video has a link between the narrative and the lyrics as when a phone call is mentioned, a phone is shown in the video; and also many more references are made. This music video is both a narrative and performance video as it starts with diegetic sounds of a man shouting at a woman and then continues to break into song - it continuously shows the artist and many women dancing whilst switching back to the story. Typically, some music videos can go against pop conventions but this music video does not as it includes a variety of the things needed to make it pop. I first encountered this song on YouTube as it was on the trending page and was number 3 in the UK's top 100 when released.
I think this video is aimed at a young audience as it speaks about relationships and breakups which is more relevant to a teenagers life. Also, in the video, the artist and dancers are all wearing fashionable clothing which may also relate more to a younger audienece as they are more likely to keep up with the latest clothing than others and the upbeat style of the song will attract younger people as it correlates with their lifestyle, unlike an older audience who may prefer songs with a slower beat.

Zara Larssan - Lush Life
I have chosen this song as, unlike the other two songs chosen, this video is purely performance. The video does not include any narrative which is popular in pop music videos. I first encountered this on Spotify as I like many of Zara Larssan's other songs and I continued on to watch the music video on YouTube. The music video also includes many of the conventions of a pop song - such as bright colours, fashionable clothing and photoshopped women. I think this music video is aimed at a young audience as it doesn't follow a narrative and is purely performance which includes flashing lights, bright colours and different colourful backgrounds.
This music video goes against the conventions of a pop video as it only uses a limited number of camera angles.
